The air smells like cigarettes and jasmine. And there, swinging just below the plunging neckline of a Saint Laurent caftan on some impossibly charismatic starlet is this jewel.

A disc of 18k yellow gold, heavy as a secret, hand-wrought by Mauboussin in the mythic Paris of the 1970s. At its center: a stylized sun, blazing in low relief. Orbiting it are twelve zodiac signs like a cosmic roulette wheel, each glyph cut with sculptural precision. The mariner-link chain, original to the piece, is bold and tailored.  Accompanied by its original Mauboussin Paris box, this piece is pure glamor. 

Mauboussin’s roots reach back to 1827, but this isn’t the far past. This is Mauboussin after midnight, with a tumbler of gin, a first cut of Chinatown, and Venus rising.
