This Gripen in Brown Mahogany is a reminder that Kauer Guitars has carved a name for themselves with their nontraditional design style and combinations of spec choices, cementing themselves as a forward-thinking guitar company. 

In Kauer fashion, the body of the Gripen's body is build using the uncommon Spanish mahogany, a choice that diverges from more commonly used tonewoods. The body design is a borderline futuristic marvel, featuring a gorgeous, art deco-esque shape complemented by a striking white pickguard that gracefully follows the contours. This combination of wood choice and an avant-garde design sets the Kauer Gripen apart, visually.

Also constructed with Spanish mahogany, cut to a Standard C shape, the neck of the Gripen extends through the body in a neck-thru design. The fingerboard is made of Wenge, known for its durability and beautiful grain patterns, and Crown inlays specific to the Gripen model lie in between its 22 precisely Plek'd frets. The total scale length of this guitar is 24.75 inches, and Hipshot open back locking tuning machines grace its headstock.

An excellent choice for this model, Kauer opted to use Lollar Imperial Humbuckers in the Gripen's body. Lollar has created some of our favorite pickups, and these Imperials are loved for being Lollar's interpretation of the classic PAF pickup. Inspired by the original PAF pickups, Lollar has meticulously improved the frequency balance while providing a subtle boost to the bridge pickup's output. A 3-way blade switching system allows players to navigate between the two of them, with slightly different sounds offered by the neck and bridge positions- furthered by two volume and one tone control knobs.

The Vintage Brown finish is a statement that was made by Kauer to allow the beauty of Spanish mahogany to shine with as little interruption as possible, while accentuating the curves and contours of this beautiful design. This is a guitar for the boundary pushers.
