Discover the intriguing world of *Fauna of New Zealand 47: Erotylidae*, a comprehensive exploration of New Zealand's unique beetle family. Authored by entomologist Richard Leschen and published by Manaaki Whenua Press on February 28, 2014, this paperback book presents detailed insights into the nine species of *Erotylidae* found in New Zealand. While globally there are approximately 3,500 species, the *Erotylidae* in New Zealand have been under-researched, often overlooked due to their small size and brown appearance.

This work proposes an innovative classification approach for the global *Erotylidae*, introducing two new tribes and two new genera, which reshapes our understanding of these fascinating beetles. The book emphasizes the phylogenetic relationships of New Zealand's *Erotylidae* to groups in Australia, New Caledonia, and beyond, shedding light on their evolutionary origins.

Inside, readers will find essential identification keys to differentiate *Erotylidae* from similar families like *Cryptophagidae*. The unique feeding habits reflect the diverse ecosystems of New Zealand, with some beetles feeding on fungus, while others thrive on plant matter or serve as scavengers. With annotated keys and biological summaries, this publication is indispensable for anyone interested in New Zealand entomology.

This contribution treats the nine species of the New Zealand Erotylidae, a small family considering there are approximately 3500 species worldwide. In New Zealand there has been little research into this family of beetles, perhaps because they tend to be mostly small and brown, though elsewhere they can be big and beautiful.

Part of this contribution proposes an amended classification for the world fauna of Erotylidae, by erecting two new tribes, describing two new genera, and making changes to generic status and family placement. How the New Zealand members of Erotylidae fit into this new classification is of primary importance for understanding the origins of our local fauna and how they relate to other erotylids. It also considers the phylogenetic or family relationships which the New Zealand species have with erotylid beetles throughout the rest of the world, such as Australia, New Caledonia, South America, and possibly South Africa.

The family can be easily separated from other groups, but a microscope will be necessary to discriminate these species from similar families such as Cryptophagidae. The identification keys which are supplied with this Fauna will help. The species are not difficult to identify, some having distinctive colour patterns that make for easy recognition. New Zealand’s fauna reflects the mixture of feeding types which make up the erotylid family, some feeding on fungus, others on plants and the remainder being scavengers feeding on plant and fungus tissues.

Annotated keys to the higher taxa and genera of all subfamilies except Erotylinae and Languriini are provided and biological information, including cycad feeding and mycophagy, is summarised.

Fine Simple Product, Works as Advertised
Size: 3-Panel
Performs as advertised, a simple upright divider. I use it to mark my "office" space when working from home. Assembly was straightforward and well documented. One person can do it, but a second person can be helpful when sliding the fabric divider pieces onto their poles. Part quality is fine for the price point. The only mild annoyance is that the upright poles can start getting loose from the metal feet, and need to be retightened occasionally (Allen wrench is included, keep it handy for retightening). It's fairly lightweight and easy to reposition, but the feet are heavy enough to keep it steady once placed. All in all, a good product. I was pleased enough to buy a second one when my son wanted something to block sunlight from behind his computer desk.

Wobbly and Poor Design
Size: 1-Panel
Update: nope! Not worth the money. My cat simply brushed against the divider, and it fell, knocking breakable things over. Not safe! It serves it's purpose, but...the screws were basically glued to the packaging. It took me longer to get the screws out of the packaging than it did to put it together. The assembly was easy. I am not mechanically inclined by any means, but the instructions, despite being very hard to read (I have over 40 eyes), were pretty simple. Structurally, it is very wobbly. I think they should have designed it with a middle rod to keep it more stable. I find that the attachments to the rods are wobbly and should have been screwed rather than popped into an attachment hole without reinforcement. That would have also made the room divider more stable. I have cats, but the material is easy to clean. I took a damp cloth to it, and it came right off. As far as see-through...I think it does a great job of masking theO other side of the room.. I just wish it was a little longer and closer to the floor stand. I like that it came with extra parts. It's just a very cheaply made item, and I don't think the price for the item reflects how cheaply it is made, how wobbly and unstable it is, or the poor design.

Taking forever but worth it
Size: 1-Panel, Size: 1-Panel
Love the product. However, trying to take the screws etc out of its box, it’s almost impossible due to the adhesive inside it. I have neck and arm issues so for me it was even more difficult. Adhesive stuck to each washer and screw so I had adhesive all over my hands then I had to get it off of the items.

Good value for the money.
Color: Black, Size: 6 Panel
This partition package is a great value. I looked at many options and this one had long length to cover an entire room with the six partitions. The pieces went together easily, took about 30 minutes to assemble and has the needed Allen wrench included. It is stable with no fear of being easily knocked down. The black fabric does not completely hide everything and if there is a light on the inside, it can illuminate what is going on. It does the job but if you wanted complete privacy you would need thicker material. Overall it does what I need in that it make a TV room into a kind of guest room of sorts.
