Description

Mermaid's Song by Susanna ICOriginally published in Knitting Wizardry, Susanna IC created a airy circular shawl fit for a mermaid. This shawl is inspired by the mysterious world of mermaids so vividly imagined in Harry Potter: The Goblet of Fire. Come seek us where our voices sound, we cannot sing above the ground, and while youre searching, ponder this, weve taken what youll sorely miss. An hour long youll have to look to recover what we took, an hours gone, the prospects

Originally published in Knitting Wizardry, Susanna IC created a airy circular shawl fit for a mermaid.  This shawl is inspired by the mysterious world of mermaids so vividly imagined in Harry Potter: The Goblet of Fire.

Come seek us where our voices sound,
we cannot sing above the ground,
and while you’re searching, ponder this,
we’ve taken what you’ll sorely miss.

An hour long you’ll have to look
to recover what we took,
an hour’s gone, the prospect’s black,
too late, it’s gone, it won’t come back.

The open lace along the bottom edge imitates the sinuous movement of underwater plants and the elongated beads glimmer and shine in sunlight much like water droplets (75 4x7mm magatama drop beads).

First, the deep border is knitted in one piece, side-to-side. The border mimics the movement and texture of waves by combining cables with lace. After the border is complete, stitches are picked up along the top edge (through slipped stitches) and the shawl is shaped into a crescent with a set of simple stockinette short rows (no wraps).

Pattern Kit includes pdf & printed pattern as well as selected yarn. Beads are not included. For Ball Winding services click here.

Enjoyed reading some of the best poems ever written. Took me places I’ve never been.
Format: Paperback
Some of the poems were difficult to comprehend and may require a re-reading to understand their full meaning. But that is the brilliance of G. Brooks, putting you in places of the mind that one has never been. Won’t recommend for newbies!

A Great Historical Noir
Format: Kindle
As a lifelong Angeleno, the dark history of the city is often glossed over. Much like Chavez Ravine, the history of Union Station is one of violence and the forced displacement of the original Chinatown and its residents. It's in this setting where the mysterious death of Chinese actress Lulu Wong (who is somewhat based on the real life of actress Anna Mae Wong) begins, and took me into the lives of the amazing Chow sisters - May and Gemma - both of whom have their own reasons for wanting justice. They know the LA cops won't bother to solve the death of a Chinese woman, no matter how famous. It's also a matter of saving their beloved Chinatown from being destroyed in order to build Union Station. I absolutely loved how immersive this story felt and how authentic all of the characters were.

Always the last person you can think of is the murderer. The same with this book also. I love learning about new cultures and you can learn some things about Chinese culture from this book. So interesting
