The inspiration for this work came about when a friend of mine brought his baby son over for a visit. I was sitting on the couch when the child was lowered to the floor his arms and legs already moving, eager to get at something in the room. The child made a mad crawl in my direction, his eyes focused on my daughters Play mobile collection of small cars.

The inspiration for this work came about when a friend of mine brought his baby son over for a visit. I was sitting on the couch when the child was lowered to the floor his arms and legs already moving, eager to get at something in the room. The child made a mad crawl in my direction, his eyes focused on my daughters “Play mobile” collection of small cars. He immediately grabbed the toy vehicles and placed them in his mouth, while tossing others to the side. Since I had already painted a number of paintings in which giants were the subject matter, the image came to me of an innocent baby laying waste to a suburban shopping mall. With destroyed cars, injured people and fires raging the dilemma would be ‘how to deal with a giant baby at play”? a metaphor for many of the world’s problems
