Details

The six symphonies published in Paris by Huberty in 1758 as Opus 4 include two of the composer's orchestral trios (Wolf Cm 1 and Gm 1). The remaining works appear to have been composed over a period of approximately seven years: the earliest work in the group is probably Op.4 No.4 (ca.1750-1753) while the second - styled Sinfonia Pastorale - may be among the last symphonies Stamitz wrote. The two trios also appear to be late works and may have been written after the composer's return to Mannheim. The title page of the set reads: "SIX / SYMPHONIES /- QUATRE PARTIES OBLIGES / avec les Haut-bois o Fltes / Et Cors de Chasses, Compris deux Trios qui sont faits pour / excuter a Trois o en plein Orqustre. /COMPOSES PAR Mr STAMITZ. / Mis au jour par HUBERTI. / OEUVRE IV..." According to Wolf, the present work, which appears as the last in the set, dates from the period ca.1753-1755. In the absence of the autograph score and an authentic set of parts this edition presents as faithfully as possible the intentions of the composer as transmitted in the Huberty print. The notation of articulation and dynamic markings has been standardised throughout, and, when missing from the source, reconstructed from parallel passages. These are indicated by the use of dotted slurs or brackets where appropriate. Like most eighteenth-century sources, the Huberty print is somewhat inconsistent in its notation of appoggiature; these have also been standardised to minimise confusion. Obvious wrong notes have been silently corrected; otherwise, any editorial emendation with no authority from the source is placed within brackets. Allan Badley

A great collection, but fails to cast Black Panther as a superhero
There are some great things about this collection of stories: women are well represented in lead roles; backstories for Miles Morales, Steve Rogers, Carol Danvers, and Tony Stark; stories that incorporate Black men as role models; and the important role technology plays in many of the stories. Now for our big disappointment. The Black Panther story is not about T'Challa becoming Black Panther, but more about Spider Man fighting Kraven, and once disarmed, Black Panther making him, "pay for the crimes [he has] committed against the animal kingdom," by delivering "the final blow." This did not sound like superhero/ role model behavior to us. I also found it strange that all the background characters in this story were white. That is not the New York city I know. The stories included are: - Miles Morales as the black spider man - Gamora vs. Nebula - Steve Rogers becoming Captain America - Spider-Man finding his place among heroes - Black Widow and Hawkeye - Carol Danvers becoming Captain Marvel - Rocket, Groot and technology - Captain America vs. M.O.D.O.K. - Tony Stark becoming Captain America - Spider-Man and Black Panther vs Kraven - Drax, girlfriend Kaz, and Star-Lord - Captain America and Iron Man seek help of Captain Marvel Overall, my son enjoys reading these stories and looking at the pictures. Though we will need to continue our search for a good Black Panther story, we are glad we bought this collection of stories, with the Miles Morales becoming Spider-Man story my son's new favorite.

Definitely for a Baby
This little Pooh is as described and definitely for a baby. I had hoped to gift it to an adult but upon receipt, I realized while it is a lovely gift for a baby, it would not relate well for an adult. The ears crunch and there is a sweet rattle inside. It’s very soft and a baby would find it comforting.
