The Viola Concerto in E-flat is perhaps one of the most challenging and difficult concertos of the period, let alone for the viola, which is required to play in all of its registers, from the very top to the bottom. The Concerto demonstrates that Kraus was keenly aware of the capabilities of this often overlooked instrument of the string section.
