New Horizon 129i Turntable

The 129i is a beautiful 100% Made in Italy turntable.  The exclusive design and the availability of three modern finishes make it contemporary and able to meet the the most demanding expectations. This model adopts for the first time the New Horizon tonearm designed to follow the basic principles of our philosophy: to face the problem, to analyse all the aspects, to simplify the solution and to create something unique and effective. The 129i is easy-to-use turntable with great sound.

Features

Synchronous AC motor

The turntable pulsating heart is the compact 24VAC synchronous motor whose main feature is its extremely regular rotation, independent from the variations of the mains voltage, given that its speed depends on the mains frequency. The high torque and the rotation speed of 500 rpm actively contribute to the regularity and fluidity of the plate rotation.

Mechanical suspension

129i  is a set of mechanical parts in action. The largest internal source of noise and vibrations is the motor that must be isolated as much as possible from all other parts of the turntable. The engine insulation in New Horizon turntables is made by an exclusive mechanical suspension system. Through precision steel springs, calibrated on the suspended weight of the motor and the pulley, the oscillation transmission to the plinth is efficiently blocked.

Belt drive

The transmission of the motion to the plate is obtained by a special belt in natural rubber. The choice of this material ensures an excellent energy transfer and a good decoupling from the vibrations produced by the engine during the operation.

Inverted bearing

One of the strong points in New Horizon turntables is the plate rotation pivot. The perfection of the movement is the result of a accurate project and several prototypes. Today the piece in production has a sturdy inverted bearing structure in three pieces of aluminium and steel that guarantee the maximum “silence” and a very low rotation friction.

9'' Arm NH91

The NH 91 is a 9″ straight cardanic arm entirely designed and built in New Horizon laboratories. Vertical and horizontal movements based on very low tolerance ball bearings and hand assembly ensure the best coupling of components. It is the result of continuous research and passion that pushes us incessantly to offer a fantastic product.

Plinth HD

129i is a rigid-base turntable. It is essential that the base, or plinth, is able to keep stable the fixing of the other parts of the apparel and to stand opposite to the transmission of vibrations and resonances: our choice at New Horizon is the compressed recycled wood pulp and artificial resins. This material is extremely smooth and heavy and its isomorphic composition works much more efficiently than the solid wood.

Methacrylate plate

The appearance is extremely important: on New Horizon turntables there are only laser-cut plates in Crystal Methacrylate. This material with a high specific weight combines the excellent ability to disperse the vibrations kinetic energy, to the elegance of a perfect transparency.

Output on RCA terminals

New Horizon turntables are interfaced in the best way with all your electronics. An excellent insulating material plate accommodates the gold-plated RCA output terminals. The ground connection is not necessary because the 129 has its own internal shielding.

A Textbook for My Students
Format: Kindle
I'm an adjunct instructor for several institutions where I teach adults how to design and develop software using various IDEs and languages. As a former military officer, I've come to appreciate the idea of ensuring my troops have all the training and gear they'll need to get the job done. Patrick exemplifies that spirit in his series, "From Zero to Proficiency." After reading his first two books in the series, I've decided that I'll use them in the Fall term to teach my students game development with Unity. The lessons are easy to follow, yet provide powerful impact upon game development. I've never come across any other author who continues to provide weekly support to his readers and Patrick Felicia does. He even solicits us to learn what we'd like for him to teach next. If you want to learn Unity from someone who actually knows how to teach it, I recommend his books. I read a lot of technical books, so I seriously appreciate it when an author can clearly convey knowledge in an easy-going manner that is technically correct. I'm very happy with these books and am sure my students will be too.

Step by Step
Format: Kindle
This series of books has step by step instructions that are easy to follow. There are lots of pictures to verify you are doing things correctly. I have done three books in this series so far (Foundations, Beginner, and Platform). Before starting the books, I had some coding background, but no experience with Unity. Each book covers a manageable amount of information. There is so much to learn, but the author does well to stick to key points to not make the reader feel overwhelmed.

Seriously needs a proofreader
Format: Paperback
The content in this series is good, but the presentation is in need of a proofreader. There are so many typos and wrong words (ignoring that it's UK English). It's like the author typed what he heard in his head, but the words are something different. For example, a section introduces the "Package Manager," which is then inconsistently called the "Packet Manager." Or "research term" instead of "search term." Or "PlayGround" in the text when it's clearly "playground" in the figure. Even the provided resources are misspelled: "Sdandard Assets" in the code and the screenshots in the book. How does this go unnoticed? Programming isn't tolerant of these things.

Great Beginner's book.
Format: Kindle
I really like Pat's approach to learn Unity. I'm working my way through his books, just finish this one (second in the series). I've tried to learn Unity in the past and fail and now I know why. Pat's walks you from the beginning, you learn how to build games from a blank canvas and putting all pieces together. It's a step by step approach so you are never wondering how to get to a certain stage. If you are new to Unity and Programming strongly suggest you starting with book 1 "foundation" and then move to this one.
