Key Features

  • Dual-Hook Safety Design: Features two reinforced plastic hooks that engage with the door interlock switches, ensuring the microwave only operates when the door is fully closed and sealed.
  • Heat-Resistant Polymer: Constructed from high-strength, flame-retardant plastic designed to withstand the high temperatures and frequent mechanical stress of daily door operations.
  • High-Tension Spring Retention: Includes specialized mounting points for the door spring (sold separately), providing the necessary "snap" to keep the door tightly against the frame during cooking.

Compatibility & Fitment

This door latch is a standard replacement for many over-the-range and countertop microwaves manufactured by Electrolux. Key compatible brands include:

  • Frigidaire: Fits a wide range of Gallery and Professional series models (e.g., FFMV1645TS, FGBM19WNVF).
  • Kenmore / Sears: Compatible with various 790-series and 405-series models.
  • Electrolux: Fits select high-end convection and standard microwave models.
  • Gibson, Kelvinator, & Westinghouse: Compatible with select older and specialty units utilizing the 5304-series latch system.

When to Replace

  • Microwave Won't Start: The door is closed, but the "Start" button does nothing because the broken latch isn't engaging the internal safety switches.
  • Broken or Chipped Hooks: One or both of the plastic hooks have snapped off, preventing the door from staying closed or latching securely.
  • "Door" Error Message: The digital display shows a "Door" or "L" code even when the door appears to be shut.
  • Door Pops Open: The latch is worn or cracked, allowing the door to spring open during the middle of a cooking cycle.
  • Button Malfunction: You have to press the door release button multiple times or pull on the door manually because the latch is sticking.

Installation Tips

  • Safety First: Unplug the microwave before starting. Microwaves contain a high-voltage capacitor that can hold a dangerous charge even when unplugged; do not touch internal electrical components.
  • Accessing the Latch: You will typically need to remove the inner door panel (choke). Use a putty knife or flat-head screwdriver to gently pry the plastic trim around the inside edge of the door.
  • Spring Transfer: Carefully unhook the tension spring from the old latch before removing it. Use needle-nose pliers to transfer the spring to the new latch.
  • Alignment Check: Before snapping the door trim back into place, test the latch manually by closing the door to ensure the hooks enter the frame holes centered and smoothly.
  • Test the Switches: If the new latch doesn't fix the power issue, the internal microswitches (interlocks) behind the frame may have been damaged when the old latch broke.

Love these authentic FP moxie jeans
Size: 29, Color: Truest Blue
I purchased two pairs of moxie FP jeans on Amazon both on sale. I love how different they are. The paint splatters are just the right amount in my opinion. I think the barrel leg is just wide enough without being obnoxious. I like an oversized look and these were the right price for me on Amazon. I love the rope waistband on these too
