FAQ A Level Mathematics:

What additional equipment do I need to bring to the exams?
All answers must be written in black pen, but for A Level Mathematics you may use a HB pencil for graphs and diagrams. You should also ensure that you have a ruler and an eraser. Mathematical equipment such as a protractor and compasses may be required so it is best to bring these. 

Which calculators are allowed for the exams?
A scientific or graphical calculator which meets JCQ regulations is the best option for A Level Mathematics, if the calculator has any memory capacity this must be cleared before the exam and the calculator should have no formulae or other information on it. All graphical calculators (if allowed by the specification) will need to be put into UK exam mode when you arrive for the exam, please ensure that you know how to do this otherwise you will not be allowed to use the calculator.

i am 90 years old. i was a student in the 60s but i had already served in the military so i was already in my 30s. Which meant with a wife and twins i was more concerned with earning a living and finishing my doctorate than participating BUT it was a time when we swung one way as a nation and we were part of the post war swing of the world. The world had developed empires, WW1 began their downfall, ww2 pretty much finished the rest BUT it opened the door for new imperialism. On one hand colonialism melted away. The greatest empire ever, the British faded to legend and an island itself breaking up. American imperialism sprouted along with Soviet. And now China and Russia. One old model, Russia, one new model China. But the world i cyclical not progressive so China may become another imperial power. Fanon is an antidote as are other writers of the 60s so good to see new editions. Many rebels are now out of print. History is always ignored but it is always present.

We did a tour of the Tower of London and used the map in this book, marking off the different parts we walked theough- talking about which parts were the setting of different scenes in the book. Accessible, fun, and exciting.
Format: Kindle
While this book is aimed at younger readers (it includes, for examples, expletives like "Zooks!" and "Zounds!"), I Escaped The Tower of London is a neat historical fiction novella with taught pacing that readers of all ages can enjoy. Using the real-life account of John Gerard as inspiration, the authors have created a young boy who escapes from the Tower of London while attempting to aid Princess Elizabeth during Queen Mary's reign. It's exciting, it fast-paced, and it even has a pleasant message about doing the right thing — even when the right thing is hard to do. It's packed with a hodgepodge of images (most of them public domain, but also a few original pieces) that add to the experience. And the end includes a brief lesson on the historical figures involved. Despite the source material, you shouldn't worry if you (or your young ones) are squeamish; the main character sidesteps the torture and there's very little violence. All in all, quite a good read. Very accessible, surprisingly fun and exciting.
