There are highlights of bright sapwood mixed in with the heartwood, giving Eastern Red Cedar its characteristic grain pattern. This piece was cut diagonal to the grain. There are highlights of bright sapwood mixed in with the heartwood, giving Eastern Red Cedar its characteristic grain pattern. This piece was cut diagonal to the grain. This Cedar is very aromatic -- it smells wonderful! We've air-dried it to ~12% moisture content, in logs that were end-sealed with Anchor Seal. This piece has been discounted because of a sapwood crack that runs along one edge. It is about 1" deep and has been reinforced with thin, clear CA glue. This may need additional treatment as you work with it. |
