COMP Cams offers a simple but effective solution to this problem and a thin, hardened Steel alloy seat which will not only protect the head and shim, but also locate and hold the spring in place. Previously, this part has been available only in a cup form with the retaining portion being on the outside of the part. This required that the head be machined a great deal to accept this cup so COMP now offers an ID locator with the locating shoulder on the inside, as well as the spring cup. Seems well made, but I don't like the sensation (of a water flosser in general)

This was the first time I ever tried a water flosser, and ultimately have decided it is not for me as I don't like the sensation of water falling out of my mouth while using it. But my mother swears by them, so I will likely give it to her. It does seem to be well-made and of good quality. Even full of water, it is fairly lightweight and easy to hold onto. There are several different strengths/pattern settings, which seems like a good thing. It charged up quickly, but I cannot speak to the battery life as I only used it a few times. I see that the price has dropped by 1/3 since I ordered it.
