This listing is for an altar plate dedicated to two very powerful pieces of Norse symbolism, the Vegvisir compass and a modern rendition of the Ship of the Slain.
This altar plate has been carefully sanded down, wood burned with magical intention, stained and finished by my hand.
It is also endowed with epic Icelandic magic symbolism that invokes strength, courage and honor for one’s many journeys on this Midgard realm.
Description & dimensions-
This round altar plate of pine wood is 5 inches high & 5 inches wide. Using pyrography, the symbolism on this plate is the compass Vegvisir above which assists one on never losing their way on treacherous journeys. Below is a modern rendition of the notorious Ship of the Slain which represents fallen warriors on their way to Valhalla. Together, they symbolize a beautiful paradox of taking chances in life and showing no fear in the face of risk. A Norse representation of Memento Mori, if you will.
PLEASE NOTE- this piece is made with natural wood, and may have some irregularities and slight imperfections, which makes it unique in its own way!
