Introduction to the actual ship

The USS Texas (BB-35) is the second ship of the New York class battleships and the second ship in the United States Navy to be named after the state of Texas. She served in the US Navy for 34 years, becoming a living witness to that era of war. She participated in the Tampico Incident in Mexico in 1914, escorted Allied ships during World War I, became more active in the Atlantic and North Africa during World War II, participated in the Normandy landings, and then moved to the Pacific to assist the Allies in landing on Iwo Jima and Okinawa.

In World War II alone, she earned five Battle Stars. After decommissioning, the Texas was converted into a floating museum in Houston. The reason why the Texas is famous to the world is due to the multiple historical records it has maintained. She is both the oldest surviving dreadnought in the United States and one of the few surviving ships in the world that served in two World Wars.

As far as the United States is concerned, the USS Texas was the first American battleship to be equipped with anti-aircraft guns and modern fire control systems, catapult * * reconnaissance aircraft, use CXZ radar signals and install CXAM-1 radar, permanently converted into a museum ship, and rated as a national historic landmark of the United States.
