The JHS 3 Series carries on in its ongoing mission of expressive, intuitive, and inspiring effects to offer one-and-done representations of iconic effects. On today's 3 Series docket, the 3 Series Bitcrusher homes in on the inspiring sounds of low-bitrate processing. A sound that's inspired so many lo-fi, ambient, noisy, and video game-adjacent textures, the 3 Series Bitcrusher does it all with finesse.
Centrally, the 3 Series Bitcrusher stacks up with an easily sculpted bit-crushing effect with three main controls. Controls for Sample Rate and Crush levels gradually break down signal fidelity to more simplified, lower-bitrate levels with greater aliasing and digital artifacts. Move gradually from cleaner, digital-flavored textures to straight-out video game blockiness with precision, these lower rates are then shaped with an onboard Filter control for interesting harmonic highlights. A two-way Mode toggle swaps the 3 Series Bitcrusher's effect tone between a lower-pass filtered mode and a higher one to either emulate square-wave synthesis or small video game speakers, respectively. Standard nine-volt power brings the 3 Series Bitcrusher to any board easily.
