Bodark Block B-753 1.1" x 1.1" x 15" 0.7 lbs. This is a long and slender spindle of Texas-grown Bodark. It is entirely heartwood, and it has some beautiful spalting and mineralization features. The colors are the light golden-orange of freshly-cut Bodark, with occasional lines of red-brown spalt staining. With time, the traditional yellow-orange Bodark colors will turn to a beautiful dark, golden brown with age and exposure to air and light. This spindle has been air-dried to 14-16% moisture content (as measured in September 2022). We've cut multiple of this size block, so the piece you receive will not be exactly the one pictured. It will be its equivalent in quality. The photos show multiple blocks of the same size. Pricing is per spindle, so if you want more than one, use the pull-down to indicate how many you're ordering. These spindles have occasional small cracks that you may want to treat with CA glue. A few of them have a sliver of bark or wane alone one edge that will turn off as you bring the spindle to round. About the Tree This beautiful Bodark tree grew large and tall on the Katy Prairie in Brookshire, Texas. It spent it's 150+ years on the grounds of what became the Brookwood Community, a non-profit community for adults with disabilities (https://www.brookwoodcommunity.org/). The tree died at some point over the last few years, and they had to cut it down. They were kind enough to let us rescue it to give it continued life as lumber rather than let it turn into waste in a landfill or burn pile. And now it is yours, to turn into a beautiful piece of woodcraft. We would love to see what comes of this lumber. Please send us a photograph of your finished work, if you would be so kind. We would like to be able to share the photographs back with the Brookwood Community and its residents. |

Couldn't be better!
Size: Large
Yes, these are "old lady" boxers, but you can't beat the comfort and the fact that they are all cotton with covered elastic.
I usually wear a 7 in Hanes, etc. Large (or ex lg if you want them looser) fit me fine. They looked small out of the package, and even smaller after washing, but still fit. Size up if you are unsure.
