Nose: Expansive and fragrant, fairly complex with raspberry, wild strawberry and damson jam joined by geranium and spicy hints of cloves. Taste: Round and full-bodied, with delicate tannins.

The story of the Piazzo winery began in San Rocco Seno d’Elvio, a small outlying district of the town of Alba, in the 1960s. Two newly-weds from families of farmers, Armando Piazzo and Gemma Veglia, decided together to carry on their family traditions by investing in a special terroir – the Langhe – which at the time was not yet renowned for its premium foods and wines. As a matter of fact, with the hard times the farming community were experiencing following the Second World War, the Langhe then were the land of local writer Fenoglio’s “La Malora” (The Ruin), and somewhere to escape from. For the Piazzos however, this was all the motivation they needed in order to start their own business. Their foresight then led them to invest in the varietal which today produces some of the most highly-prized wines in the world: Nebbiolo. Over the course of the years, many plots of land were purchased and converted for the growing of the varietal. Then in 1979 the first wine was made from the grapes they had placed so much faith in, and three years later it was to bear the name Barbaresco. When their daughter Marina and her husband Franco joined Armando and Gemma in the business, they fell in love with this wonderful venture which was gradually becoming more established, and with their enthusiasm improvements were made that culminated in 1985 with the release of their first Barolo: another source of pride for the Piazzo family. Along with the cellar’s reputation, the estate also grew in size. Today the vineyards extend over more than 70 hectares (170 acres), mostly located near the winery itself, but some in other municipalities: Mango, Neviglie, Guarene and Novello. In 2007 the running of the estate was handed over once-and-for-all to Marina, and she and Franco set out to follow in her parents’ footsteps. Shortly afterwards, their sons Simone and Marco also joined the business after completing their studies at the “Umberto I” wine high school in Alba, and they began to add innovative ideas and techniques to the experience of the preceding generations. This resulted in the Piazzo philosophy: look to the future, while keeping your feet firmly rooted in tradition by producing wines that are its most authentic expression. So much so that today Azienda Vitivinicola Piazzo can claim to produce the wines that best represent the traditions of the Langhe and Roero, with the previously-mentioned Barbaresco and Barolo being joined by Langhe Nebbiolo, Barbera d’Alba, Dolcetto d’Alba, Roero Arneis, Piemonte Chardonnay, Moscato Asti, plus two wines which are more innovative for the area: a classic method Nebbiolo-based sparkling wine called “MasSìm”, and a pure Merlot.

Great watch. Not too big, has a second hand and a light.
Size: 25mm, Color: Silver-Tone/Silver-Tone/White/A/25mm
I am a nurse, so this watch is perfect for administration of timed meds. The band is too big for my small wrist so I bought a leather band. I was not able to figure out how to remove segments from the original band, but a jeweler would be able to do this. It is pretty small, compared to the bigger watch faces that seem to be popular now.

Band a little snug, but great watch
Size: 25mm, Color: Two-Tone/Gold-Tone/White/25mm
I love Timex watches. This one is very attractive. The stretch band is a little tight. It is also hard to set the date in the little tiny date box. The packaging was minimal; looks like it wouldn’t take any rough handling. But the watch itself works great and is easy to read.

Classic & classy
Size: 25mm, Color: Silver-Tone/Silver-Tone/White/25mm
This watch was the perfect gift. The wrist band was a great fit. The backlight makes it easy to see the time in the dark. You can't beat a Timex.

GREAT WATCH!
Size: 25mm, Color: Two-Tone/Gold-Tone/White/25mm
This is a basic but practical watch with no bells and whistles. Have tried many sport watches that were difficult to set and program various features. It has an expansion band with combined gold and silver accents, so it goes with everything! Finally a watch that is attractive and keeps good time. In summary, it's just a good timepiece for every day wear.

Expansion band proved a disappointment
Size: 25mm, Color: Two-Tone/Two-Tone/White/25mm
I shopped many watches before I decided on this Timex model. I've been wearing Timex watches for the last several years and have found them to be reliable and reasonably priced, so I was pretty much set on buying a Timex. I have one of their Weekender models with a couple of different straps, which I alternate depending on what I'm wearing, and I really like it. I also had a dressy model with the same easy-to-read dial that had an expansion band, and it died on me after several years, so I bought this watch as a replacement. The watch works fine, and I like the easy-to-read dial and also the fact that it has the Indiglo light. Plus, the watch is attractive. I was disappointed, however, in the band. The expansion band on my old watch fit perfectly, and the edges of the band were nicely rounded and smooth so that it was very easy and comfortable to put on and take off. However, the band on this new watch seems a little bit smaller, so it tends to pinch a bit. Also, the edges are sharper, which makes the watch rather uncomfortable to put on and remove. This was a let down. I don't know if these differences are due to a decline in quality control, an effort to reduce costs, or what. I considered returning the watch and buying a different model, but since there wasn't actually anything wrong with the watch, I knew I'd have to pay return shipping, and I didn't want to invest that extra money. So I kept the watch. But I'm not entirely happy with it, solely because of the band. Of course, that's the problem with shopping online--you can't try it on before you buy. If you have a thin wrist, this band may be fine for you, but if you have an average or larger wrist, you may likewise be dissatisfied.
