As part of the 16-17 series of Martin guitars, the Grand J-16E 12-String features the bones of a Nazareth, PA Martin guitar without higher end appointments such as a full gloss finish or ornate binding and inlays to deliver a true solid wood Martin guitar under $2,500.
Key features of the Grand J16-E are a Spruce top with gloss finish, satin East Indian Rosewood back and sides, scalloped X-bracing, and solid hardwood neck with Ebony fingerboard. The J-16E also features Martin’s high-performance taper neck profile, making the sometimes-daunting challenge of playing a 12-string more comfortable.
The Grand J-16E comes factory loaded with a Fishman Matrix Enhance VT pickup, a feedback resistant undersaddle active system. Controls for volume and tone are mounted at the top of the sound hole, and single control for the pickup’s Enhance feature is at the bottom of the sound hole.
