Importantly, this hollow frame has been properly sealed so it does not fill with water and gain weight when immersed. The alloy spreader block has a crossbar to add strength and provide a convenient handle for lifting bigger fish. Importantly, this hollow frame has been properly sealed so it does not fill with water and gain weight when immersed.
The net itself has larger mesh on the sides to reduce water resistance and improve maneuverability and finer mesh on the base to cradle the fish.
The whole net including the frame is in a muted bronze/olive colour. When submerged this looks so natural and ‘weed like’ that fish are less net shy. Some species - especially chub - will occasionally dive into the net rather than veering away.
