791230 Carburetor Kit

Key Features

  • Optimized Fuel Calibration: Precision-jetted for V-Twin engines, ensuring a consistent air-fuel mixture for smooth idling and full-throttle performance under load.
  • Pre-Installed Fuel Solenoid: Includes the 12V anti-backfire solenoid to prevent fuel from entering the engine after shut-off, reducing "popping" and carbon buildup.
  • Corrosion-Resistant Alloy: Manufactured from high-grade aluminum alloy to resist fuel degradation and ethanol-related corrosion common in modern pump gas.
  • Complete Service Kit: Comes with the necessary mounting gaskets and fuel filter to ensure a leak-free installation and a clean fuel supply.

Replaces / Cross-Reference Part Numbers

  • Briggs & Stratton: 791230, 799230, 699709, 499804, 497586.

Compatibility & Fitment

This carburetor is designed for 4-cycle V-Twin engines typically found in riding lawn mowers and garden tractors. Key compatible models include:

  • Briggs & Stratton Engines: 405777, 406777, 407777, 441777, 445677, 445577, 445777, 445877.
  • John Deere Riding Mowers: LA120, LA130, LA135, LA140, LA145, LA150, L120, L130.
  • Other Brands: Fits select Craftsman, Husqvarna, and Poulan Pro tractors equipped with B&S 20HP to 25HP V-Twin engines.

When to Replace

  • Engine Won't Start: The engine turns over but fails to fire, often due to clogged internal jets or a failed fuel solenoid.
  • Surging/Hunting: The engine RPM fluctuates at idle or full throttle, indicating a lean condition or restricted fuel flow.
  • Leaking Fuel: Gasoline is dripping from the carburetor throat or the air filter housing, suggesting a stuck float or worn needle valve.
  • Backfiring: Occurs when the engine is shut off, typically signaling a faulty anti-backfire solenoid.
  • Black Smoke: Excessive fuel is entering the combustion chamber, indicating a "rich" condition or a heavy, non-buoyant float.

Installation Tips

  • Safety First: Work in a well-ventilated area. Disconnect the spark plug wires and the battery's negative terminal before starting.
  • Drain the Fuel: Pinch off the fuel line or drain the gas tank to prevent spilling during the swap. Always replace the fuel filter included in the kit.
  • Gasket Sealing: Ensure the mounting surfaces are perfectly clean. Scrape away old gasket material to prevent vacuum leaks that cause surging.
  • Solenoid Connection: Verify the 12V lead to the anti-backfire solenoid is clean and tight; a loose connection will prevent fuel from reaching the engine.
  • Fresh Fuel: Always use fresh, stabilized fuel (87 octane or higher) and consider using an ethanol treatment to extend the life of the new carburetor.

EXCELLENT QUALITY
Size: Medium 20", Style: 3 Knot, Pattern Name: Dog
I have a German Shepherd/Pointer mix who is 10 months old. He has been in the throes of teething and destructive exploration. He's chewed up clothing and shoes. He chewed a hole in our couch and one in our brand new mattress (He was never left home alone until this point but as my mother came to visit and my boyfriend was back at work, I had no choice but to trust him alone for about an hour a day for 3 or 4 days... he clearly didn't earn that trust). He loves ropes because he can gnaw them, whip them around, and play tug of war or fetch with them at any given time. We love ropes because they keep him occupied and relieve his desire to chew things. Unfortunately, he was destroying rope after rope after rope. Some ropes were worrisome because they would quickly start fraying and falling apart. We would have to help remove strings he has swallowed from his behind while he was out doing his business... My boyfriend's mother picked up a Mammoth TireBiter tire and rope toy for him but it was much too small. Still, he loved it and it stood up very well to his chompers despite being way too small/weak for him. Looking for a larger version of the Mammoth TireBiters, I stumbled across this rope toy and gave it a shot. Let me tell you, I don't think I will ever buy rope toys from any other brand! We have had this rope for over a month and it is still going strong. It does show some small signs of wear and tear but you would swear we bought it last week. It is very strong and durable. It has held up through many long gnawing sessions. It has been put through countless hours of fetch and tug of war with no signs of giving out any time soon. I am so in love with this rope and so is my pup!

Only for tug-a-war play.
Size: Small 15", Style: 3 Knot, Pattern Name: Dog, Size: Small 15", Style: 3 Knot, Pattern Name: Dog
This should only be advertised as a tug-a-war dog toy. I gave the toy to our 6 month old puppy and in, not even, an hour it was ripped apart. He’s not big enough for the larger ones yet. Not sure if I’ll try the next size larger.

Definitely worth the price
Size: Mini 10", Style: 3 Knot, Pattern Name: Dog
Not for heavy chewing. This rope is light and not as rigid as the others. My dog prefers this one over her other ropes and plays with it much more.
