In a world increasingly threatened by ecological crises, 'Nature is a Battlefield' by Razmig Keucheyan illuminates the harsh realities of environmental injustice. This compelling book explores the intersection of capitalism and environmental degradation, revealing how 'environmental racism' disproportionately affects marginalized communities, particularly in the siting of toxic waste landfills. The author argues that the current ecological conversation often overlooks these systemic inequalities, focusing instead on abstract solutions. With 220 pages of eye-opening insights, this work critiques the 'environmental finance' movement, highlighting how financial instruments like carbon markets and pollution permits are profiting from the vulnerabilities created by climate change rather than offering sustainable solutions. Keucheyan's analysis extends into the military domain, investigating how nations are responding to resource scarcity and natural disasters through a 'green war' lens. From the devastation in New Orleans to the tensions in the Arctic, this book sheds light on the geopolitical dimensions of the climate crisis. Written in a clear and engaging style, 'Nature is a Battlefield' is essential reading for anyone interested in environmental studies, social justice, and the future of our planet. Description:

In the midst of the current ecological crisis, there is often lofty talk of the need for humanity to ˜overcome its divisions™ and work together to tackle the big challenges of our time. But as this new book by Razmig Keucheyan shows, the real picture is very different. Just take the case of the siting of toxic waste landfills in the United States: if you want to know where waste is most likely to be dumped, ask yourself where Blacks, Hispanics, Native Americans and other racial minorities live and where the poorest neighbourhoods are. This kind of ˜environmental racism™ is by no means restricted to the United States: it is very much a global phenomenon.

Keucheyan show how the capitalist response to the crisis has been marked by a massive expansion in ˜environmental finance™. From ˜carbon markets™ to ˜pollution permits™, ˜climate derivatives™ and ˜catastrophe bonds™, we are seeing a proliferation of nature-related financial products. Instead of tackling the root of the problem, the neoliberal strategy seeks to profit from environmental risks.

Moreover, with the rise in natural disasters, resource scarcity, food crises, the destabilization of the poles and oceans and the prospect of tens of millions of ˜climate refugees™, Western powers are increasingly adopting a military response to ecological problems. The Cold War is over: welcome to the ˜green wars™. From New Orleans to the Siachen glacier via the Arctic floes, Keucheyan explores the landmark sites of this new ˜climate geostrategy™.

Small caddy that makes a big difference
Color: Black
I don't have counter space to spare, so having a dedicated spot for my sponges, dish brush, and soap right at the sink has been really convenient. Everything is corralled and easy to grab. The angled design drains directly into the sink, which keeps things from getting gross and waterlogged. There's a separated sponge compartment which I like, and it's big enough to hold a couple of sponges, a long dish brush, and a small bottle of dish soap all at once. It also just looks way nicer than my previous solution of stuffing everything into a jar. It's sturdy, hasn't gotten rusty or tarnished, and it just feels well made. Sometimes a small organizational upgrade makes your whole kitchen feel better and this is one of those. Also, very reasonably priced! For $11, this is a goodie.

Works well, spacious
Color: Black, Color: Black
Quality: This holder is actually really nice. It feels sturdy and well made, not flimsy or cheap at all. The material has a solid feel to it, and it holds everything in place without tipping or sliding around. Size and Capacity: This thing is bigger than I expected in a good way. There is plenty of space for multiple sponges, scrubbers, and even a small bottle of dish soap without everything feeling crammed together. It also has a removable compartment specifically for longer dish brushes, which is really convenient. It keeps them upright and separate so they are not just laying across everything else. Use and Functionality: The functionality is great. It is very easy to use and keeps everything organized and in one spot instead of scattered around the sink. One of the best parts is the drainage. Any excess water drains right back into the sink, and I have not had any issues with water pooling at the bottom. That alone makes a big difference in keeping things cleaner and less messy. Overall, It looks good, feels good, and does exactly what it is supposed to do. Good quality, very functional, and worth the price. Definitely a solid kitchen sink organizer.
