Dive into the profound analysis presented in 'Perversions of Justice' by Ward Churchill, a groundbreaking examination of the intersections between law and imperialism. This compelling collection of 11 essays from the renowned author sheds light on how the United States has misused legal frameworks to perpetuate colonial control and reinforce its global dominance. Churchill critically assesses the notion of America as 'a nation of laws, not of men,' showcasing how such legalism often contradicts the principles of freedom and democracy America claims to uphold.

Through insightful exploration of federal Indian law, Churchill reveals the historical implications of legalism, paving the way for a better understanding of its effects not only on indigenous populations but on international relations as well. His work illuminates the ways in which U.S. legal practices have shaped global perceptions, leading to a contemporary world order that challenges fundamental democratic ideals.

Perfect for students, legal scholars, and anyone interested in the critical analysis of American legal history, 'Perversions of Justice' offers a necessary critique of the legal systems that underpin power structures. Add this essential work to your library today to understand the complex relationship between justice and tyranny in the U.S. and beyond.

Description:

The United States is readily distinguishable from other countries, Chief Justice John Marshall opined in 1803, because it is "a nation of laws, not of men." In Perversions of Justice, Ward Churchill takes Marshall at his word, exploring through a series of 11 carefully crafted essays how the U.S. has consistently employed a corrupt from of legalism as a means of establishing colonial control and empire. Along the way, he demonstrates how this "nation of laws" has so completely subverted the law of nations that the current America-dominated international order ends up, like the U.S. -itself, functioning in a manner dia-metrically opposed to the ideals of freedom and democracy it professes to embrace.

By tracing the evolution of federal Indian law, Churchill is able to show how the premises set forth therein not only spilled over onto non-Indians in the U.S., but were also adapted for application abroad. The trajectory of America’s imperial logic can be followed all the way to the present New World Order in which "what we say goes" at the dawn of the third millennium.

Best decision ever!
I purchased the protection plan to cover my heat press. I didn't think that I would need it nor ever use it but wanted to be sure I had some sort of warranty in place since I was spending a large amount of money. I did have to file a claim with Asurion and they were great to work with! They provided me with the assurance that I would not have to come out of pocket again to fix my machine. It is worth the money to get the coverage. You never know when you will need it.

Machine stopped working after factory warranty expired
My Cricut Maker 3 stopped working after 2.5 years and luckily I had bought this insurance for 3 years. I summited my claim and Asurion provided a UPS prepaid shipping label, I had to pack the machine and send it but I did not have a box beg enough to put the machine so it took me around 5 days to find one. When I tried to print the shipping label, it was not working so I contacted Asurion customer service, the customer service associate was very friendly and helped me to get a new shipping label. Did no have any issues, so would recommend to get this protection in case your factory warranty runs out.
