A superb 19th century French safe, with a secret combination, was manufactured of iron, steel, and wood in Paris by Ancienne Maison Vallet for A. Dutrou suc de Frété & Cie, circa 1870s. Fully functional, its very clever locking mechanism opens with three keys and a four letters' combination. It features two doors, one on the top with another below in the base. The top door opens to reveal two steel shelves and an interior lock box, while the bottom door opens to reveal two steel shelves. It retains its maker's bronze medallion which reads, "Ancienne Maison Vallet A. Dutrou suc de Frété & Cie, A. Dutrou suc de Frété & Cie, Bvard Bonne Nouvelle, 7 Paris. Very nice patina. Secure safe in great working condition with a beautiful finish throughout. Three working keys (one for the main safe, a second for the inner lock box, and a third for the lower safe) and combination included.
