Wallis's Locomotive Game of Railroad Adventures

A charming engraved and hand-coloured Victorian board game, published and sold by Edward Wallis, of 42 Skinner Street, London, in 1840. A large central aquatint scene of Britannia surrounded by 48 smaller views, depicting locomotives, carriages, stations and hazards of early Victorian railway travel.

Edward Wallis was an English Victorian book, map, board game and music seller, and cartographer; he was also a son of a publisher John Wallis. John Wallis has opened the Map Warehouse in 1775, and the Instructive Toy Warehouse in 1805. Together with his sons John Wallis Jr. and Edward Wallis, he became one of the most prolific publishers of board games in the late 18 and early 19th centuries.

This poster is a high quality "giclée" reproduction of a restored antique original, custom-printed on Standard Single-weight Matt Coated art paper 140gsm or  Heavyweight Matt Coated art paper 230gsm (more of a thin card density), or superb Epson Matt Canvas 320gsm, according to your choice. We use the latest UltraChromeHDX pigment inks which guarantee 60 years of colour  permanence (up to 200 years fade-proof for colour prints).  This poster is suitable for mounting and framing, as well as direct display on a wall.

This high-resolution, museum-grade fine art print is produced from a unique restored image. Printed on premium archival-quality art paper or canvas, it makes a striking addition to any interior as wall décor or a poster, and a memorable gift for lovers of antique and vintage maps, collectors of historic prints, historians, and explorers. Almost indistinguishable from the original Victorian engraving, it adds character and interest to a study, library, or office wall. It also makes a thoughtful gift for all occasions, including Christmas, Valentine's Day, Easter, and Father's or Mother's Day.

Can't get past the art
Format: Hardcover
I bought this book blind, knowing nothing about the creators and with no expectations. While I thought the story was interesting and generally well-executed, sometimes the intrusion of the writer's thoughts, the attempts to break the fourth wall, and the wink-wink, nudge-nudge gags at the fans grow tiresome. But the writing is the strength compared to the art, which in my opinion is poor at best. The artist lacks anatomical skills, perspective skills -- the art almost never fills the frame. The splash pages are underwhelming because the figures are so small. Even the parts of the story that are supposed to be "cartoony" (the 5th dimension), which might better fit this artist's abilities, don't work. I really feel this could have been a significantly better product with a different artist.

Pretty funny
Format: Hardcover
The book gives us a more focused outlook on Chieg Wiggum. Full of its funny moments, I`d recomend this to huge Simpsons fans as it seems the shows writers managed to give us another hit.
