Oak Ridge Bombers T-Shirt (Heavyweight) - Vintage Defunct Baseball TeamsThe Oak Ridge Bombers name was used by two teams in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. The first was a Class D minor league team that briefly played in the Mountain States League in 1948 before relocating to Hazard, Kentucky. The second, more enduring team was a semi pro, all African American squad formed around 1944 that played into the mid 1960s. Many of its players worked at Oak Ridge National Laboratory during the week and traveled the Southeast playing games

The second, more enduring team was a semi-pro, all-African-American squad formed around 1944 that played into the mid-1960s. Many of its players worked at Oak Ridge National Laboratory during the week and traveled the Southeast playing games on weekends, with alumni like Eugene Williams, who later starred in the Negro Leagues. Their legacy is commemorated by a National Park Service historical marker at the Oak Ridge Baseball Complex.
