Introducing a groundbreaking exploration in the theory of knowledge, this essential text is perfect for both undergraduate and postgraduate students aiming to deepen their understanding of contemporary philosophical debates. Authored by Ian Evans and Nicholas D. Smith, this book not only reviews standard theories of knowledge but also introduces students to current issues that are pivotal in modern philosophy. Each chapter navigates through critical topics such as skepticism, the truth condition, and the intricate dynamics of belief and acceptance. With a focus on epistemic evaluation, internalism vs. externalism, and epistemic contextualism, readers will find a comprehensive guide that merges foundational theories with fresh perspectives. This insightful work also introduces the concept that knowledge extends beyond human cognition, challenging traditional views. Drawing from recent scientific literature in animal ethology, the authors reveal fascinating insights into non-human intelligence, examining the sophistication and diversity of cognition in animals. The final chapters provide a cohesive theory that acknowledges and respects this diversity, suggesting that animals demonstrate knowledge by adapting their cognitive processes to their environment. With rich discussions and a 'Current Trends' section at the end of each chapter, this book is a must-read for anyone interested in the evolving landscape of epistemology and philosophy of language. A delightful addition to your academic library, Knowledge will pave the way for informed discussions in classrooms and study groups alike.

Description:
Introductions to the theory of knowledge are plentiful, but none introduce students to the most recent debates that exercise contemporary philosophers. Ian Evans and Nicholas D. Smith aim to change that. Their book guides the reader through the standard theories of knowledge while simultaneously using these as a springboard to introduce current debates. Each chapter concludes with a śCurrent Trendsť section pointing the reader to the best literature dominating current philosophical discussion. These include: the puzzle of reasonable disagreement; the so-called "problem of easy knowledge" the intellectual virtues; and new theories in the philosophy of language relating to knowledge.
Chapters include discussions of skepticism, the truth condition, belief and acceptance, justification, internalism versus externalism, epistemic evaluation, and epistemic contextualism. Evans and Smith do not merely offer a review of existing theories and debates; they also offer a novel theory that takes seriously the claim that knowledge is not unique to humans. Surveying current scientific literature in animal ethology, they discover surprising sophistication and diversity in non-human cognition. In their final analysis the authors provide a unified account of knowledge that manages to respect and explain this diversity. They argue that animals know when they make appropriate use of the cognitive processes available to animals of that kind, in environments within which those processes are veridically well-adapted.
Knowledge is a lively and accessible volume, ideal for undergraduate and post-graduate students. It is also

No Appeal
Flavor Name: Variety Flavored, Size: 20-70Lbs
6 Golden Retriever household and purchased these hoping they would like them. Unfortunately they do not. They do not seem to have much scent or appeal and went to the bottom of the basket.
On the plus side, the seller reached out and offered an appreciated refund. Raised 1 star for response and responsibility.

Dog uninterested
Flavor Name: Bacon, Size: 20-70Lbs
My dog is a huge chewer and is constantly chewing on all sorts of different bones I've gotten her over time. This is the only one I've ever gotten that she refuses to touch, even when repeatedly offered it while I attempt to hype it up.
She has a reachable toy bin where I store half her toys, and she pulls things out as wanted, and I swap out the toys in there when she seems to get bored. I left this bone in there for 4 months just to see if she would ever come around to it, but nope. Nothing.

My Dog Hasn't Destroyed Yet But Trying
Flavor Name: Chicken, Size: 20-70Lbs
My large 85-pound dog has chewed-up and destroyed just about every toy I've purchased for him over the past 3 years all within a week of purchase-- this one has lasted intact (although showing signs of wear) loner than most. Overall, I recommend.
