Alpha Lipoic Acid

Alpha lipoic acid (ALA) is a powerful antioxidant that safeguards each of the cells in our body, supporting longevity by reducing oxidative stress and protecting against cellular damage. Research shows alpha lipoic acid protects against age-related health decline of the heart, brain and skin.

  • Supports cellular health by reducing oxidative stress
  • Promotes energy production by supporting mitochondrial health
  • Normalizes blood sugar levels by improving insulin sensitivity
  • Protects the heart from free radical damage
  • Enhances cognitive health by protecting neurons from oxidative damage
  • Improves skin health by aiding in collagen synthesis

Research-Supported Benefits:

Supports Cellular Health. Alpha lipoic acid (ALA) functions as a powerful antioxidant, protecting each of the cells in our body from oxidative damage. (1) Studies show that oxidative damage is a key contributor to age-related health decline and decreased longevity. (2) ALA further supports cellular health by aiding in mitochondrial biogenesis (the creation of new mitochondria), which is critical for ATP (cellular energy) production. (3)

Regulates Blood Sugar. Research shows alpha lipoic acid exhibits blood-sugar regulating effects by increasing the uptake of glucose into cells and increasing insulin sensitivity. (4) A 2022 meta-analysis of 16 randomized controlled trials concluded alpha lipoic acid supplementation significantly reduces fasting blood glucose and Hemoglobin A1C. (5)

Enhances Heart Health. By reducing oxidative stress, alpha lipoic acid offers protection against age-related decline of heart health. A 2022 randomized controlled trial involving 46 participants found that 12 weeks of alpha lipoic acid supplementation offers additional cardio-protection by significantly reducing triglycerides and total cholesterol. (6)

Promotes Cognitive Health. Research shows that oxidative stress contributes to many of the symptoms of brain aging, including cognitive dysfunction and reduced memory. (7) Animal studies indicate alpha lipoic acid has neuroprotective effects by reducing markers of oxidative stress in the brain. (8)

Improves Skin Health. A key contributor to skin aging is the decline in collagen production that occurs after age 40. Alpha lipoic acid supports healthy collagen synthesis by aiding in the recycling of vitamin C, which is a critical nutrient that promotes collagen production within the body. The antioxidant effects of alpha lipoic acid offer further support for skin health by protecting against oxidative damage of skin cells from environmental factors.

  • Alpha lipoic acid (ALA) is a naturally occurring compound that functions as a powerful antioxidant in the body.
  • It is both water-soluble and fat-soluble, allowing it to work in various cellular environments.
  • ALA is produced in small amounts within the human body and can also be obtained from food sources such as spinach, broccoli, brussels sprouts and organ and red meats.
  • Due to its antioxidant effects, alpha lipoic acid decreases levels of oxidative stress and reduces symptoms of age-related health decline of the heart, brain, and skin.
  • Studies show alpha lipoic aids in blood sugar regulation, which is critical for longevity and cellular health.
  • ALA further improves cellular health by supporting ATP production and mitochondrial biogenesis.

A Beta Worth Rooting For
Format: Kindle
In Spare, Violet Fox flips the omegaverse on its head, giving us a Beta heroine determined to make her mark. Joining the Beta Trials to support her sick father, she's thrown into a pack that doesn't want her, especially the possessive Alphas. But here's the twist: their sweet Omega turns out to be her scent match. Cue the angst, forbidden tension, and a slow-burn romance that will make your heart ache in the best way. Violet Fox delivers an emotional, refreshing take on the genre, proving Betas aren't "spares." They're stars.

Beta, Alpha, Omega oh my!
Format: Kindle
Omegas are precious and given to Alphas & their packs... but the Betas want in too. To this end, the Beta government is rolling out its trial of assigning a Beta to each Alpha-Omega pack. But forcing a Beta into a pack where they are not wanted will not end well... Of course, no one expected the Omega to fall for the assigned Beta. Great read and cliffhanger

A familiar story, just with…..less.
Format: Kindle
So, as other reviewers make clear, this is very similar to Pack Darling and The Beta. It’s much closer aligned with The Beta, in plot and maybe more like Pack Darling with characters. That being said, I don’t hate this…..but it wasn’t great either. It’s both books mentioned but just….less. Less angst, less emotion, less feeling. The plot feels very half fleshed out, and the “bad guy” feels underwhelming. I didn’t really feel any real emotions from and of the male leads, except maybe Oliver. The others fell sorta flat for me. And Mika makes herself out to be this big bad ass straight outta training and then we never see it from here again with the one fitting room incident as the exception. SPOILER: The whole, “Oh, I’m actually probably an Omega, but I don’t wanna be but I do actually wanna be but no one can ever know my secret that I do nothing to hide “ thing fell so flat. She never commutes to believing she was secretly an omega, but also mentions her “secret” a lot. It just felt so manufactured. I’m intrigued enough to read part 2 and see how the author closes everything out, but this is not one I’ll recommend or ever come back to.

Good start to a series
Format: Kindle
I delayed reading the series for reasons I don’t remember. But my TBR list is huge so I thought I’d take a shot of this and I was pleasantly surprised. I didn’t think the blurb about it was anything special. But it was a very good book. It took some interesting twists and turns. I am so glad the second book is already out. Because I would not have waited patiently. Very slow burn but good storyline. 🔥🔥/5

A good read
Format: Kindle
Multiple points of view. 3 Alpha men and an Omega male. She is a Beta in training for a new program placing betas in Alpha/Omega packs. Mila is only doing the program for the money to take care of her dad. She wasn't expecting to fall for a pack but when she sees this packs Omega she is done for. There is just something about him. His Alphas are good looking as well. Too bad she is hiding a secret and their government is acting shady. I liked it and can't wait to see where their story goes.
